About Us

About the Lao Businesswomen’s Association

Founded by the Lao Women’s Union on September 10, 2004, the Lao Businesswomen’s Association (LBWA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and uniting Lao female entrepreneurs and business leaders across the country. Membership is exclusively available to women with legally registered businesses, fostering a community of innovation, leadership, and collaboration.

OUR ROLES

  1. Advocacy: Representing members and Lao businesswomen by presenting recommendations to the government and relevant organizations to protect their legal rights and interests.
  2. Economic Empowerment: Encouraging and promoting careers in diverse economic sectors where women can thrive.
  3. Youth Mentorship: Supporting young Lao women to develop foundational entrepreneurial skills and contribute to society.

OUR OBJECTIVES

  1. Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate the sharing of expertise in manufacturing, trade, and service industries across public and private sectors locally and internationally.
  2. Skill Development: Empower members, Lao businesswomen, and aspiring entrepreneurs to grow continuously by advancing their knowledge, techniques, and mastery of science and technology.
  3. Global Representation: Encourage participation in key economic and business meetings and conferences at the national, ASEAN, regional, and global levels.

OUR Organizational Structure

  • Levels of Organization: LBWA operates at two levels:
    • Central Level: The Lao Businesswomen’s Association (LBWA).
    • Provincial Level: The Provincial Lao Businesswomen’s Association (PBWA).
  • Affiliations:
    • Technical matters: Collaborates with the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
    • Advocacy and leadership: Supported by the Lao Women’s Union to safeguard women’s rights.
  • Leadership: The executive committee is elected every five years during a congress.

Signature Activities

  1. Annual Lao Food Festival:
    • LBWA’s flagship event, showcasing small and medium-scale female businesses from across Laos.
    • Participants engage in trade exhibitions, share knowledge, display Lao handicrafts and food products, and explore business matchmaking opportunities.
  2. Training & Seminars:
    • Organizes seminars, training sessions, and field trips for members, businesswomen, and young women to enhance their business management skills and operational capabilities domestically and internationally.
